This amazing book concludes with King Ahasuerus imposing tribute on the land and islands, displaying all his power, and the greatness of Mordecai, who was promoted by him and tells us that all this was written/recorded in the chronicles of the kings of the Medes and Persians (v1,2). Mordecai was second in command to the king and was acknowledged by his fellow Jews, and he sought the good of his people and spoke peace to all (v3).
What a transformation had taken place! From being on the point of being put to death together with all his fellow Jews, by a vicious enemy, he is made second in command over Shushan and 127 provinces, and even more, his niece made Queen when there seemed to be no hope. God was at work saving His people when all seemed lost. God showed His power in that He is not limited to a single method of rescue. It is impossible to choreograph how God works, He is All Powerful, Almighty and without equal. A God for whom nothing is too hard.
No human could have arranged all this. Humans displayed free will, but God worked out His plan in spite of evil intentions in some people. Those who plan and do evil will ultimately face God’s judgment, in this life, but certainly in the future life. Even God’s people face trials and difficulties, and some may face death, and while God does not always rescue them, in which case they go to be with Him, which the Apostle Paul says, ‘is far better,’ but sometimes He does rescue them and brings good out of evil.
We see that it is vital that we, who are followers of Jesus Christ, must stand up for Him in the face of evil. We must never be afraid to speak out, and ‘give a reason for the hope that is within us’ (see 1 Peter 2:18-23, 1 Peter3:8-17).
We have a great God and a mediator, The Lord Jesus Christ, who ever lives to make intercession for us. (1 Timothy 2:5)
