I have been reading the Bible for over seventy years, man and boy. I am not a qualified theologian; I just love reading the Bible. The Bible contains sixty-six books, written by around forty writers, shepherds, fishermen and a converted Pharisee amongst them, spanning hundreds of years. Most of them never met each other, but the more I have read I am convinced that there is only one author – God.

This is not meant to be a commentary or a paraphrase; these are simply my own notes as led by the Holy Spirit. I simply ask you to have a Bible open as you read and make your own notes. When Paul and his companions preached in Berea (Acts 17) the Bereans went way and studied the scriptures for themselves to see if what they were being told was true. You may not agree with everything I say, that’s fine, please ask God to lead you into the truth.

Helping people understand the Bible, One book at a time.

New here?

Before we start, it is important that you read and study this alongside the Bible narrative. I have used the New King James Version of the Bible. Please pray that God will help you to understand it. Make your own notes if that helps you.

I do recognize the overwhelming responsibility in preaching and teaching The Word of God. You may not agree with everything I say and therefore, I would urge you to study God’s Word for yourself and ask Him to show you the truth.

Please pray that God will help you to understand it. Make your own notes if that helps you. I simply love to read God’s Word and, like me, you will find that it is so relevant to living in the twenty first century. It is not meant to be a commentary.

My content is organised by books of the bible, select the book you want from the menu and then the chapter.  Then read my content alongside the bible.

Genesis – the book of beginnings – is a book rich in biblical truth which sets the tone for the rest of Scripture. To help us understand its message and significance to the unfolding drama of God’s redemptive purpose, John Hayes has done us an enormous favour – here, in this volume, is the fruit of many years of diligent and careful study. I warmly commend it to you and pray that your heart will be enriched and encouraged as you feast upon its delights.
